Niantic wants to be the very best. Niantic's CEO, John Hanke, has teased some of Pokemon Go's upcoming features. According to Business Insider, Hanke says the ability to trade Pokemon is "kind of a core element," adding that the app was designed with interactions between players in mind, meaning we could see this function sooner rather than later.
