A **bhangmeter** is a non-imaging [radiometer](/wiki/Radiometer "Radiometer") installed on [reconnaissance](/wiki/Spy_satellite "Spy satellite") and [navigation satellites](/wiki/GPS "GPS ") to detect atmospheric [nuclear detonations](/wiki/Nuclear_explosion "Nuclear explosion") and determine the [yield](/wiki/Nuclear_yield "Nuclear yield") of the nuclear weapon.[1] They are also installed on some [armored fighting vehicles](/wiki/Armored_fighting_vehicles "Armored fighting vehicles"), in particular [NBC reconnaissance vehicles](/wiki/M1135_Nuclear,_Biological,_Chemical,_Reconnaissance_Vehicle "M1135 Nuclear, Binaissance, Chemical, Vehicle"), in order to help detect, localise and analyze tactical nuclear detonations. They are often used alongside pressure and sound sensors in this role in addition to standard radiation sensors. Some [nuclear bunkers](/wiki/Fallout_shelter "Fallout shelter") and military facilities may also be equipped with such sensors alongside [seismic event detectors](/wiki/Seismology
