**Chalmers Hubert "Slick" Goodlin** (January 2, 1923 – October 20, 2005)[1] was the second [test pilot](/wiki/Test_pilot "Test pilot") of the [Bell X-1]( /wiki/Bell_X-1 "Bell X-1") supersonic [rocket plane](/wiki/Rocket_plane "Rocket plane"), and the first to operate the craft in powered flight.
